I don’t do the kind of work mentioned in your article any more (thankfully!), but the overwhelm and lack of support / lack of village is something we feel every day - particularly with a kid as high energy / high demand as our youngest. That our society thinks this is okay / refuses to recognise this burden, farkin sucks.

When a complaint is made, then we have to respond to crappy comments like we “chose the burden”. Sure, but having children is also one of the big things life is about. Kids are also a necessity for our society to continue functioning - that is, everyone needs these kids; they’re not just a want for us. And that’s quite aside from the moral obligation our society should have around doing the best by all kids as well…
